WAYACOMP 2023

The WA Young Artists Chamber Music Competition is WA's only chamber music competition for young people.

Did you compete in the recent Strike a Chord Championship? Maybe you attended Spring Academy and want to continue playing with your ensemble. Maybe you met some new friends at WAYACHAMP and want to start playing in a new group together? WAYACOMP is a great way to give focus to these pursuits, strengthen your ensemble's playing level and maybe win a prize!

Open to:

• Students under 18
• Ensembles of 3 - 6 people, 1 player to a part
• Any instrumentation
• Performance of one or more movements within the maximum time limits
• Repertoire from the Western Art music repertoire is preferred
• Enter in as many ensembles as you like!
• Non-WAYACHAMP participants also welcome
• Video entry option for those who cannot attend on the day

Sections:

Junior Section

All members should be aged under 13 on the day of competition

Time limit: 5 minutes

Senior Section

All members should be aged under 18 on the day of competition

Time limit: 12 minutes

Competition performance details:

Live performance date: Sunday 10th December

Time: Junior Section commencing 2pm; Senior Section commencing 4pm

Venue: Callaway Music Auditorium, UWA Conservatorium of Music

Video entries: Must be filmed by Monday 4th December (filming will be completed by a WAYACHAMP representative in one take to ensure fairness between ensembles)

Entry fees: 

Past WAYACHAMP students: $25 per person

Non-WAYACHAMP students: $30 per person

Individual applications and payments must be completed by each member of the ensemble.
