STRIKE A CHORD

Four Strings Introduction video, created for their entry into the 2021 competition where they became the only WA ensemble to progress to the finals.

What is it?

Strike a Chord is Australia’s national chamber music competition for high school students and is facilitated by Musica Viva Australia. Chamber music ensembles of between three and eight players in any vocal or instrumental combination performing music that is from the Western Art Music repertoire. Twelve aspiring groups will be selected by the Jury and invited to perform at the Grand Final each year, competing for cash and professional development prizes.

How can WAYACHAMP help?

WAYACHAMP is offering packages including rehearsal scheduling, tuition, photography and recording of ensembles to help them prepare their Strike a Chord entries. 

The suggested timeline for this is as follows (to be scheduled after the group has already rehearsed over a number of weeks):

Week 1: Tutorial 1 (1 hour)

Week 2: Tutorial 2 (1 hour)

Week 3: Tutorial 3 and photography (1.5 hours)

Week 4: Tutorial 4 and recording (2 hours)

As convenient (UWA can be arranged)

Cost

The suggested 5.5 hour package as above is $640 per ensemble (cost can be shared between members).
